The 10 Longest-Living Presidents in U.S. History, from Jimmy Carter to Joe Biden

Jimmy Carter’s death on Dec. 29 served as a reminder of the record-setting life he lived. Though he was the longest-living president by a long shot, a few other leaders enjoyed long lives after the White House

As the world pays tribute to former President Jimmy Carter following his death on Sunday, Dec. 29, his history-making age has taken the spotlight: Reaching 100 years old, he set a new record in October for the longest-lived president in United States history. It’s a title he’s held since March of 2019, and a record he broke with each birthday thereafter.

Though Carter is the only president thus far who hit the century mark, he isn’t the only one who enjoyed a long life after the White House. Some of the nation’s earliest presidents reached their 80s, and a few more recent presidents lived into their 90s.

From former President Carter in the top spot down to current President Joe Biden in 10th, here are the U.S. presidents who have gone down in history for living the longest lives.
