The holiday festivities are in full swing for the royal family, who are posted up at Sandringham for the rest of the season. While Prince William previously revealed that 45 family members will be attending the “noisy” festivities, with a few major exceptions: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who are still estranged from the Windsors, as well as Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, who bowed out of the gathering due to the disgraced royal’s latest scandal. While it was previously reported that their daughters would also be skipping out on the annual holiday gathering in solidarity with their father, sources now say Princess Beatrice will be spending Christmas with the royal family in Sandringham after all.
The eldest York daughter, who is currently pregnant with her second child, has reportedly been told by her doctors to stay at home in the UK instead of traveling for the holidays, Hello! reports, per Express. Princess Beatrice was planning to spend Christmas with her in-laws abroad for the first time, but now she, her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, their daughter Sienna, and Edoardo’s son, Christopher ‘Wolfie’ Woolf, will all be heading to Norfolk instead.
Princess Eugenie and her family are reportedly still not planning to join them, but it’s likely that fans will get to see the little family join the rest of the Windsors on their annual Christmas Day walk from Sandringham House to St. Mary Magdalene Church.
This unexpected addition will enhance what’s sure to be an extra “celebratory” holiday getaway for the royals. Grant Harrold, who served as the King’s butler from 2004 to 2011, opened up about the “different” festivities that come after a tough year of health issues for both Kate Middleton and King Charles.
“It seems, God willing, that both are on the road to recovery so it should be more ‘normal’ for them and more of a celebratory one,” he told Express, noting that the princess and monarch will be “looking out for each other” amid the celebrations and that King Charles will want to ensure there’s no “pressure” on his daughter-in-law.
