Kate Winslet Puts a Surprisingly Sexy Twist on an All-Business Suit at 2025 Golden Globes

Kate Winslet had a daring monochromatic moment at the 2025 Golden Globes.

The actress, 49, walked the red carpet in a white Erdem suit. The set included tailored trousers and an embellished blazer that she went topless under.

As Harper’s Bazaar pointed out, the black sequin floral motifs on her jacket could have just passed as a spot of sparkle on the otherwise understated monochromatic look — or a nod to Winslet’s never-to-be-forgotten role in Titanic as Rose DeWitt Bukater.

Winslet’s large gemstone drop earrings were put on full display thanks to her effortlessly put-together updo. Her makeup included a glossy rose lip, bold brows and peachy cheeks.

Winslet was nominated for best performance by a female actor in a drama for her role as a photojournalist in Lee and best performance by a female actor in a limited anthology series for television as a fictional dictator in The Regime.

Overall, the actress has been nominated 14 times since 1996 and has won five Golden Globes thus far. Winslet’s nominations are the only ones either project received.

In the World War II-inspired film, Lee, Winslet portrays Lee Miller, a 20th-century American model-turned-photojournalist who reported for British Vogue from the front alongside allied forces in 1944 and 1945.

The movie picks up in the late 1930s as Nazi Germany’s power in Europe rises and as Miller engages in a relationship with an art dealer named Roland Penrose (Alexander Skarsgård), according to the synopsis. Once World War II breaks out, Lee begins working for British Vogue and continually grows frustrated with limitations placed on female photographers that leave her only to work in England during the war effort.

The Regime is Winslet’s third HBO limited series, after Mildred Pierce, for which she won an Emmy as a tough, ambitious waitress, and Mare of Easttown, for which she won another Emmy.

The Regime “tells the story of life within the walls of a modern authoritarian regime as it unravels,” per its synopsis. “After not leaving the palace for quite some time, Chancellor Elena Vernham (Winslet) becomes increasingly paranoid and unstable and turns to a volatile soldier, Herbert Zubak (Matthias Schoenaerts), as an unlikely confidant. As Zubak’s influence over the chancellor grows, Elena’s attempts to expand her power eventually result in the palace and the country fracturing around her.”

Hugh Grant worked on the movie with Winslet, which was their first movie together in 29 years, since 1995’s Jane Austen adaptation Sense and Sensibility. Grant, 64, also received a Golden Globe nomination this year for his role in Heretic.

“It was honestly amazing because I haven’t really seen him since Sense and Sensibility, and as you say, it’s a very, very long time — three decades,” Winslet told Entertainment Tonight at the show’s New York City premiere last February. “I just was excited to get in a room and play with him in this kind of more grown-up version of myself.”
